The Spine Hospital of Louisiana at The NeuroMedical Center is proud to announce it is the recipient of a LAMMICO Patient Safety Award and Grant. The Spine Hospital was awarded second place and a $5,000 grant from the region’s largest medical professional liability insurance carrier for its effective implementation of various strategies to prevent Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections or CAUTIs.
The Spine Hospital nursing staff put their creative minds together to create a unique music video that displayed The Spine Hospital’s strategies for combating CAUTIs. Urinary tract infections are one of the five most common types of healthcare-associated infections. CAUTIs have been associated with increased risks, increased morbidity, mortality, hospital cost and length of stay. The Spine Hospital of Louisiana continues to lead the nation in patient safety and quality of care. The Spine Hospital has received some of the highest patient satisfaction scores (top 5% nationally) and some of the nation’s lowest infection rates (<1%).
The $5,000 grant awarded to The Spine Hospital by LAMMICO will be used by its nursing teams for continuing education and certification opportunities.
This is the third Patient Safety Award and Grant received by The Spine Hospital of Louisiana.
