Organization Accepts Prestigious Press Ganey “Guardian of Excellence” for Achieving and Sustaining Excellence in Patient Experience

The Spine Hospital of Louisiana at The NeuroMedical Center is pleased to announce it has been named a 2020 “Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey. The award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in Patient Experience. This is the 5th year in a row (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020) and 6th time in the organization’s 16-year history (2014) that The Spine Hospital’s patient satisfaction scores have ranked in the TOP 5% NATIONALLY for medical practices.

The Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in healthcare, and is given out based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores, a federal survey administered to a random sample of adult patients after discharge. The survey contains a series of questions about critical aspects of a patients’ hospital experiences  (communication with nurses and doctors, the responsiveness of hospital staff, the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment, pain management, communication about medicines, discharge information, overall rating of hospital, and would they recommend the hospital.) The Spine Hospital of Louisiana was one of only 309 hospitals nationwide to achieve the 95th percentile in all survey categories over a 12 month period. The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is one of only 3 hospitals in Baton Rouge, and one of just 17 in Louisiana to receive the Guardian of Excellence Award in 2020.

According The Spine Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert D. Blair, the award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding, and improving the delivery of care. “I continue to be humbled and inspired by our teams who have continued to raise the bar for our patients and their families year after year,” said Blair. “Knowing our valued patients generate these scores, is what makes this so meaningful. I am so proud of our teams and the profound work they do to ensure that all of our patients receive safe, high-quality care throughout their stay with us.”
